The Planning & Zoning Division has started the process of updating the community plans that cover the plains areas of the County. Plans that will be a part of this update process will primarily be the North Plains Community Plan, the Central Plains Community Plan, and the South Jefferson County Community Plan. Other plans that overlap these three primary plans will also be evaluated, such as the General Land Use Plan and the C470 Corridor Plan. Get more information on the Community Plan Updates.

2010 Demographic Update
We're updating our Demographic web site with snap-shot of the County’s overall demographic picture as of January 1, 2010. The updated demographic data will include revised population and housing estimates, social characteristics, economic conditions, and an update of the County’s mapping statistics.
The Jefferson County Planning & Zoning Division recently completed a survey of citizens and interested parties who wish to learn more about planning and zoning matters. Read More about it here on our Public Outreach page.

Jefferson County Regulation Changes
On April 20, 2010, the Board of County Commissioners approved changes to the Jefferson County Land Development Regulation and Zoning Resolution. Notable changes include the creation of new processes for multi-family development, for the construction of natural surface trails and for alternative energy resources. Other changes were made to overhaul the development submittal requirements and the park and school regulations, as well as to define the applicability of the Zoning Resolution to government owned facilities and to define the use of the Site Development Plan process.

The Planning Commission approved the Comprehensive Master Plan on January 27, 2010.
