Road & Bridge Director

Larry Benshoof

Larry Benshoof serves as Director of the largest single employee division in the County, as part of its Road & Bridge Division. The Division has 182 employees spread throughout unincorporated Jefferson County involved in road maintenance, repair work and upkeep to county streets, including snow removal.  Mr. Benshoof has been Road & Bridge Director since December 2005 and prior to that, he served as the Assistant Director of Road & Bridge when he first started with the County in 1996.

Mr. Benshoof graduated from The Colorado College in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry. He then spent two years teaching Chemistry, Physics and Math in a rural African high school while serving in the Peace Corps.

Mr. Benshoof brings previous private sector experience to his position, working for companies involved in a variety of public works activities.. He has been part owner of a small paving construction firm as well as being employed by two of the larger metro area heavy highway contractors as both an estimator and project manager.  Mr. Benshoof participates in the American Public Works Association (APWA) as well as the International Transportation Engineers (ITE) organization.
